Since the start of credit crisis in Sep 2018, we have focused on opportunities caused by capital dislocation, primarily working with large wholesale RE financers and stressed asset owners. Over the last ~1.5 years*, we undertook in-depth underwriting of ~US$4.7Bn+ of RE Loans and evaluated several yielding asset acquisitions coming through the bankruptcy process.

In the current environment, we believe that super-senior credit at opportunistic returns, NPLs and operating asset acquisitions through lender led resolutions / stressed owners, are among the most attractive risk rewards for solution-oriented players capable of investing in dislocated markets.

Few highlights:

  • Undertook first large sized transaction, coming out of the credit crisis (Oaktree / DHFL US$195MM deal)
  • Extensively worked on acquisition of a stressed non-bank RE financer (AUM of ~US$0.9Bn), leading to be the Operating Partner for one of the two investors finally submitting binding bids
  • Continuing our work on several RE loan portfolios including working with a large financial institution with US$3.0Bn+ of RE exposure
